Redskins Bar Watching: Hard Times (Fairfax)

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Monday, October 1, 2007

Sure I love the Wizards. But its football season and Redskins time. Every week I go to a different place to watch the 1:00 NFL games and/or the Redskins game somewhere in the DC metro area I'll tell you how it goes. Go Skins!!!

Hard Times Cafe
4069 Chain Bridge Road
Fairfax, VA 22030

Sunday, September 30th, 1:00 Games (BYE WEEK)

TVs & Games:
Limited TV view, Most Games, Bad Channel Management

In the billiards section, there are enough TVs to see all the games at 1:00 or 4:00. Most other seats have very limited TV views. You can see 2 games, but not all of them unless you walk around a bit. The TVs are nice though but not huge. They had a big problem with changing games in the middle and constantly screwing up what was on which tv.

Ages:
All Ages

Beer:
$2.00 Domestic Drafts & Bottles
Includes Yuengling. Also have Root Beer on tap which is good.

Food:
Cheap Regular Prices
They will bring out a sampler of their 4 kinds of chili if you ask for it. The chili dogs/burgers are really good and pretty cheap. Definatly reccommend it, same food at the other locations.

Service:
Great
Very friendly. Manager even welcomed us. Although it was their 1st day open. Service is sure to decline.

Crowd:
Non-Existant
Tough to find, and grand opening. People probably don't even know it exists

How Early Do I Need To Get There:
Whenever You Want
Until it becomes more well known, you can get there whenever you want.

Experience:
The place is in an old home. It is really cool and they have several sections. A bunch of pool tables & arcades make it fun. They need to work on their TV channel changing policy. If you want to watch ONE game, then it is pretty cool.

Recommendation:
Hard Times has cheap food & drink and fun games to play, but is pretty bad place to watch football. I'd recommend going there for maybe a Monday night game but stay away on Sunday. I won't go back...for football
