With the 38th pick in the 2003 NBA Draft the Washington Wizards select: Steve Blake, Guard, Maryland.
Another year another four year Terrapin and local hero. Blake came to the Wiz and although it was scary seeing a 6'3" skinny white guy, he did a good job off the bench. Blake played hard and hit key 3 pointers, but being a local guy, got the Verizon Center excited
After 2 seasons, the Blazers picked up Blake after the Wizards declined to match their offer. He became a starter and played major minutes, doing a great job. At the time it was a good move for the Wiz, but Blake has turned into a decent player.
Diagnosis: Solid-Role Player
Where Is He Now?
Blake is still in the NBA and back on the Portland Trailblazers and starting after being traded a couple times, playing on the Bucks and Nuggets. He scored a career high 11 points per game last year on a playoff team.
