Ovechkin MVP Again, Who's Next?

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Friday, June 19, 2009

Alex Ovechkin won his 2nd straight MVP award last night. Ovechkin plays in the NHL, the 4th of the big 4 sports, which is nice, but I think its time for one of the more popular sports to have a player win the honors.

In 1969, Wes Unseld won the MVP playing for the Baltimore Bullets, which eventually became the Washington Wizards. That's 40 years without an MVP! A few MVPs have played in town, post MVP skills, in Moses Malone & Michael Jordan.

Gilbert Arenas got some MVP chants a few years back, but really had no shot to win it. Barring injuries to the top 10 players in the NBA, we may have to wait for the Wiz to rebuild again before seeing a MVP.

In 1982 & 1983, the Redskins had back to back AP MVPs in Mark Moseley (only kicker to ever win MVP) and QB Joe Theismann (snap). 26 Years!

Who could be the MVP from the current team? Jason Campbell...hahahahahaha. We may have to wait a few more years for an NFL MVP.

In baseball, well in baseball it may be the only time I ever type the following: ROTFLMAO.

Maybe in 2024, the post-steroid android era, the Nationals will sign the robot formerly known as Barry Bonds. Or maybe Christian Guzman will hit .500. 2nd time ever ROTFLMAO!
