Jamaal Magloire & The Toronto Revellers

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Tuesday, July 7, 2009

Another strange Google autocomplete has allowed me to find something strange about potential Wizard Jamaal Magloire. Jamaal is apparently the band leader of a Carnival band (not exactly sure the genre) called the Toronto Revellers.

Going to the website I have no clue what is going on. There are a lot of costumes for sale...I don't think I saw Jamaal or any band in this video but...

Calling All Single Moms! You can win a costume, just go to the website and write a 100 page essay about why you NEED to let loose with the Revellers...Ok I guess that's all I have for this...

If you research Jamaal's background his family is originally from Trinidad. Trinidad has a huge yearly festival called Carnival. And the word band is usually preceded by the word masquerade and refers to the costumed revellers who take part or "play mas". Each masquerade band depicts a theme and this year Jamaal's band chose Brazil. This is a multi-million dollar festival that consumes the city of Toronto for two weeks starting mid-July and culminates in a parade attended by over 1.2 million people the first Saturday in August. It's called Caribana. A major roadway is blocked off and for 12 hours Caribbean music, food and culture takes over. This is Caribana's 42nd year and grew from a couple hundred now to over a million people. As for offering single mom's a costume in a recessionary year where costumes start at $150 and many single Mom's may miss this opportunity, it's just more goodwill he's spreading to the community.
Oh by the way Jamaal's band has won 2 years in a row and is going for a 3peat
