All Star Voting, Still A Joke

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Tuesday, November 13, 2012

In 2011-12, the Washington Wizards were a terrible basketball team.  Throughout the season the team fired the coach and ended up shipping out 3 key "knuckleheads" in JaVale McGee, Nick Young, and Andray Blatche.

Did you know that in 2011-12 that all 3 of those guys were on the NBA All-Star ballot.  The 4th Wizards player on there was John Wall, who hasn't played a single game this season.

This year things are different.  The NBA has gotten rid of set positions and has separated the players into two categories; front-court and guards (why not back-court?) Great.  It seems they cleaned up the process.  McGee, Young, Blatche, all gone.  So who is on the ballot now?

John Wall (injured)  (maybe on there cuz of his presence at the club?), Nene (injured), and ... EMEKA OKAFOR! WHAT!

Okafor hasn't done anything all year, and that is the guy they put on the ballot because he is the biggest name the Wizards have.  I would put 0 Wizards players on there but Okafor...

That video, is Okafor....

The idea of having injured guys and terrible washed up players on a ballot is so they get every NBA fan to check out the web site and vote.  If there are 0 Wizards players on there, would Wizards fans vote?  The incentive would be lower.  But we aren't idiots.  Okafor, on the All-Star team?

That just shows why this whole process drives me crazy.  I rant about it in baseball.  I rant about it in hockey.  I rant about it in basketball.  I hate it so much.  5 games in!!!!!

So go here and vote, but don't vote for injured or non-deserving players just because they are on the local team...ug
