Is Money Mase Coming Back To DC?

According to the Washington Examiner the Washington Wizards are looking at signing former Wizard (and former guy who destroyed me in high school) Roger Mason to a 1 year contract. It is going to be great to see him in a Wizards uniform again instead of in a Vest and tie at Lockout meetings standing next to Lumberjack Baron Davis at the podium.

Mason came on strong for the 2007-08 Wizards averaging 9 points and over 20 minutes per game. The next season he moved on to San Antonio where he played 82 games and had a few great game winning shots. His scoring went up to almost 12 points per game and he played a career high 30+ minutes per game. For some time he was even starting for the playoff bound Spurs.

Mason's minutes and scoring dropped in the following season and last year Roger only played in 29 games for the New York Knicks, most of them coming during the final month of the season. Now Mason is back in DC, and about to sign with the Wizards once again.

This would be a good pickup for the Wiz. Mason is a great 3 point shooter and could keep the defenders honest while John Wall drives to the hoop. He is also a solid veteran with plenty of playoff experience. As the other Mase would say, "feels so good"...

Roger Mason's Back

Do mase got the ladies? Yeah Yeah...Do puff drive mercedes? Yeah Yeah...Take hits from the 80’s? Yeah Yeah...But do it sound so crazy? Yeah Yeah...

The Sports Bog reports that Roger Mason, or Mase as 1 person (me) calls him, has been re-signed by the Washington Wizards.

You may remember Roger from his time in the past with the Wizards. I may remember Roger from when I played (sat on the bench) against him in High School. While technically, I did not guard him, and probably played like 20 seconds total in the 3 games we faced him, I'm pretty sure I fouled him once or twice.

Mason hit some threes last year off the bench, so I have no problem with picking him up again. He is from the area and is apparently a very nice guy. As long as he knows that if 12 years ago the coach put me in against him, I would have shut him down. And today I would be playing with the Wizards...........what happened? I was dreaming...did I write that?

The number 756 is very special to me. I would say it is one of the most important numbers in the history of sports. There is always alot of talk about whether it could be achieved and if it is valid, but sure enough it was accomplished. People can say this number is tainted all they want, but I know in my heart that it is deserved. And it was all done in the magical 2006-07 season for the Washington Wizards by 4 very special players.

756: The combined number of points that Brendan Haywood, Roger Mason, Calvin Booth, & James Lang scored last regular season.

Breaking the so called "unbreakable record" of 755 set by Tim Leglar, Lawrence Moton, Chris Whitney, Darvin Ham, & Harvey Grant in 1997-98.

I watched every night on Comcast, hoping that these guys could go out there and do it. The pressure was on and the players started to feel it. Turnover after turnover I started to get worried that it would never happen. Others would just ignore this record, saying that it meant nothing in this day and age. But I kept hope in my heart.

One day I woke up and James Lang was no longer on the roster. I started to cry. How could they get to this number without James Lang. Without his 1 point per game, this record would take forever to break (or one more game). I questioned my faith.

Sure enough though, the guys pressed on. They didn't let the loss of a 10 day contract superstar faze them whatsoever. Mason drained 3's, Booth drained some 15 footers, Haywood missed several dunks (to keep them under 757). And finally, April 18th, 2007, when Brendan Haywood slammed home the record breaking basket against the Indiana Pacers, I erupted in tears of joy.
