Before the NBA draft, I expected the Wizards to select Stephen Curry with the 5th pick. Before draft day however, the pick was traded for the two man comedy team of Miller & Foye.
Then, during the second round of the draft, Wizards fans watched as DeJuan Blair, the #1 college rebounder who destroyed the #2 pick in the draft, was available for the bigman-less Wizards. Instead we learned that cash was the way to go in round 2 and that Sean Marks would be a better fit.
Thus begins the continuous look-in at Stephen Curry & DeJuan Blair, both who started off in the summer league this weekend.
Curry played in two games where he launched up shots with no conscience. While he did miss several, he did put up statistics. 16 points in the first game and 29 in the second. The second game saw Curry airball a game winner at the buzzer, just to come back and score the game winner with 10 seconds left in OT. The guy is not scared, has the confidence of a veteran, draws in the fans to the arena, and puts up highlights.
Meanwhile, DeJuan Blair started off with 50% from the field, 13 points and 10 boards. He is big and he is a fighter.
Yes! It is just Summer League! A league where Kwame Brown & Andray Blatche look like Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem. But I plan to keep watch out for these 2 rookies during the season. Just for fun.
