Wizards Booed At Home, Fans Have Seen Enough

As the Wizards walked into the locker room to a chorus of boos from the home fans, who wasted a nice Sunday afternoon at the arena instead of watching football, Janet Vesely remained on the floor to exchange handshakes with some of the Timberwolves players.  Meanwhile his teammates sulked towards the locker room too embarrassed to even look up at the crowd.

With 10 seconds left in the game, Jordan Crawford threw a pass to the Timberwolves, a fitting ending to a terrible game.  After the turnover the players on the floor walked towards the locker room with their heads down with time still remaining on the clock.  I guess the players had enough, and they didn't need to watch the final 10 seconds of the game.  I wish they walked off of the floor in the first minute of the game, it would have been less embarrassing.

The Verizon Center, although really quiet, had more people than I expected.  When the crowd wasn't booing, cursing at Andray Blatche, or shaking their heads in disbelief, the arena sounded like the library.  The loudest the crowd got was during the t-shirt toss, which was only slightly louder than when they booed Andray Blatche after he missed another long jumper.

The body language of the Wizards is pathetic.  Jordan Crawford & Andray Blatche should be benched.  At one point in the game after committing a foul, Blatche went over and took a seat on the bench.  However, he was still technically in the game, but he wanted to sit down, so I guess that is cool.  Flip didn't seem to mind.  McGee who usually gets lumped in with the "knuckleheads" played with some attitude, a small bright spot.

Crawford & Nick Young are offense killers.  Every time they catch the ball they hold it for a second or two before deciding if they are going to chuck up a shot or not.  And when Crawford is the point guard, which for some reason Flip thinks is a good idea, you should just turn off your TV.

They should have a channel on TV called the Kevin Love channel.  This station would feature a camera that stays on Love an entire game.  Watch that guy work.  He doesn't stand around like the Wizards big men.  He fights for the ball.

That is the lineup that should start the game.  I don't care how bad they play, those guys would play basketball, something we don't see at Verizon Center.

Back in 2006, Prince rented out the house of NBA player Carlos Boozer.  Of course since it was Prince he did not move in and unpack boxes.  Instead, he painted the house with purple stripes and added purple rugs wherever he could.  The story.

If Chris Singleton isn't starting in this game, then the NBA should throw the Wizards out of the league.  The Wizards have a problem.  The team does whatever they want with no consequences.  They have guys like Trevor Booker & Chris Singleton playing basketball while the rest of the team plays street ball.  Now those 2 guys def have flaws, but they deserve to be on the floor.  McGee, Wall, Singleton, Booker, Blatche.  Screw both shooting guards.

It looked like something a figure skater would wear...

They never wanted to cause me any sorrow...they never wanted to cause me any pain...they only wanted to see me cheering...they only wanted to see me cheering in the purple seats...Why are the seats purple by the way?  I feel like this is the first real chance the Wiz have to pick up a win.  They played hard against the Knicks and if they repeat that level they will win.

When wolves cry...

Minnesota has 2 wins.  That is 2 more than the Wiz, the egg mcmuffin of the NBA.  They may be the second worst team in the league, but probably not.  Kevin Love is the man.  Kevin Love would die 4 u.  Ricky Rubio will also be in action, a guy the Wiz passed up a few years back in exchange for Mike Miller & Randy Foye, the Raspberry Berets.  I'd trade rosters with them in 1 second.

The Wizards can win this game.  JaVale McGee who gets all of his rebounds based on height and 0 rebounds based on boxing out or hustle will have his hands full with the tougher and hungrier Kevin Love.  John Wall may ( but shouldn't ) have his hands full with Ricky Rubio making crazy passes to open 3 point shooters.  The Wiz also have to watch out for Michael Weedsly and the 2nd worst 1st round pick in NBA history Darko Milicic (behind K Brown)  Jordan Crawford should play 0 minutes, but won't...

Possible Free Agents: The Minnesota Connection

Since the Wizards have now become the Timberwolves of the East, I thought it would be good to see what free agents would fit into the Wizards new model.

The Wolf rating is based on connection to Minnesota...

Rasho Nesterovic:

Nesterovic is a big man, and one of the big men the Wizards are reported to be interested in. Rasho didn't just play for the Timberwolves, he played for the Flip Saunders Timberwolves. Drafted by Minnesota in 1998, Rasho spent 5 seasons in the land of 1,000 lakes, all under current Wizards coach Flip Saunders.
Rating: 5 Wolves

Joe Smith:

Joe Smith played for Flip Saunders and the T-Wolves at 2 points in his career (4 seasons). This time included the T-Wolves playoff years. He is also a big man that the Wizards could use.
Rating: 4 Wolves

Stephon Marbury:

Marbury was the star point guard for the Timberwolves during their playoff years with Kevin Garnett. He played for Flip Saunders, and ran his offense for 3 seasons. The Wizards already have a lot of guards, but he IS a former Timberwolf...

Rating: 4 Wolves

Jason Collins:

Collins is also a big man, and is also being targeted by Washington. Jason spent last season with the Timberwolves.

Rating: 2 Wolves

Shelden Williams:

Shelden is a big man, and would fill the backup big man position well for the Wizards. He started last season on the Kings, but played 15 games on the T-Wolves at the end of the season.

Wizards First Round: Ricky Rubio & The Great Trade Of The #5 Pick

After the draft lottery, I was glad that the Wizards didn't end up with the 2nd or 3rd pick specifically because I didn't want them to draft Ricky Rubio.

Now that the draft is over, I LOVE the fact that the Wizards traded the #5 pick. While I'm not 100% sure they traded at the right time or for the best guys possible, I am pretty sure about one thing.

The Wizards would have drafted Ricky Rubio, and it would have been bad.

Sidenote: If Rubio was picked at #4, and the Wiz would have drafted Steph Curry, then I would be semi upset, but not Rubio upset

The main reason that pick would have been bad is because Ricky Rubio stinks (possibly). Rubio is a less high Jason Williams (the Florida guy not the murderer). He is reeling out highlights against players in Spain! I feel like I'm in a bizzaro world. Am I the only one who sees what is happening here? Spain!

Second, Rubio refused to work out until the last possible moment because he didn't want anyone to see how he is not an NBA player. Finally, for some reason, he decided to workout for the Kings a few days prior to the draft, was unimpressive, and he dropped to the #5 pick.

Thirdly, Rubio said he didn't want to play in DC. There is a chance he would have pulled some crap like "im not playing, im gonna go back to Spain". Really buddy? If you do that it is obvious that you are scared to play in the best league in the world. I'm guessing you are gonna be a good Euro-flopper.

Now instead of an unknown 10 year old, the Wizards have 2 decent players that make the team better right away.

If Rubio somehow becomes an MVP in a few years, nobody will remember this anyway, so I'm good...If he becomes Rookie of the Year, I may have to hide in a cave. But I'm not worried.

Goodbye DC, Hello Minnesota

The 5th pick was obviously the main part of this trade, but what can Minnesota fans expect from the other parts of the deal?

Oleksiy Pecherov:

Minnesota fans may think they are getting a backup center in O-Pech, but that is not even close to the case. The truth is, they are getting a 7 foot shooting guard. Pecherov plays exclusively behind the 3 point line, and when he gets the ball, he fires up the shot. In fact, his teammates used to call him "The White Hole" because every time you passed him the ball, you were not getting it back. He has no business being in the NBA.

Etan Thomas:

Do they like poetry in Minnesota? How about political activism? Aside from a big body with 0 offense, that's about all they are getting in Etan Thomas. Thomas can muscle out a few rebounds, and you will know when he does based on his over the top elbow swinging rebound routine. He will slam down some points and hit the occasional ugly hook. A big contract and by the way had OPEN HEART SURGURY just 2 years ago. How's that for an injury.

Darius Songaila:

Songaila is not a country, it is one of the goofiest guys you will ever see. Just wait until the first time you see him "sprint" down the court. It is truly amazing. No No No...YES! is the best way to describe Darius. From a basketball standpoint, Darius is a decent guy off the bench. He has a sweet mid range shot and isn't afraid to take it to the rim. Defensively he is not bad, pressures the ball (aka slaps smacks & fouls) and plays rough & tough. He was just about the only toughness the Wizards had last season. He won't back down, and will do the dirty work while putting some points on the board.

I say good riddence to Etan & Pecherov, but the Wizards may end up missing Darius, unless they make another move...

Latest Trade Rumor: Caron Butler To The Timberwolves

Don't get too scared after reading the title...more of speculation than a rumor...

Alerted on Twitter by @Truth_About_It, Minnesota Timberwolves Press is guessing the following trade could happen:

Caron Butler, Javaris Crittenton, & The #5 Pick (why don't the Wiz throw in Gilbert too) for Mike Miller, Randy Foye, and the 18th pick, or just Butler for Miller & 18th Pick.

T'Wolves press is assuming that the Wiz are worried about contracts and salaries, but as Abe Polin says he will do what it takes, including going over the luxury tax, to win a championship. Ernie Grunfeld also seems pretty committed to the big 3, especially Butler.

Miller and Butler can't really be compared, Butler coming off leading the Wiz and Miller coming off a bad year...How about the Wizards get Al Jefferson and the T'Wolves get Andray Blatche? Let's go with that trade instead!

Latest Trade Rumor: Mike Miller & Other Timberwolves

Mike Jones of the Washington Times reports that the Minnesota Timberwolves have been speaking with the Wizards about getting the #5 Pick.

"Some of the pieces Minnesota is believed to be offering up are swingman Mike Miller, who has a $9.75 million expiring contract, guard Randy Foye, the expiring contracts of Brian Cardinal ($6.75 million) and Mark Madsen ($3.6 million) and possibly the 18th and/or 28th picks."

This deal is not something that will excite the fan base. Trading away an exciting college prospect for Mike Miller, Brian Cardinal, & Mark Madsen. Why Minnesota would be willing to trade away the only 3 white NBA players that exist is puzzling to me. That's like deciding that you want to give away 3 unicorns. Eh I tried...

While Miller has been a great scorer at times and is a solid shooter, he is getting old.

Mark Madsen would bring his championship ring to town, but can he help the Wizards dance down F street next June?

Randy Foye scored over 16 points per game last season...for the T-Wolves. I was very surprised to read that stat. Could he be a decent fit as a point guard?
