J.J. Sucks! J.J. Sucks! - Wizards Fans Chant At Redick

During the closing minutes of the Washington Wizards wednesday night 106-93 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks, J.J. Redick was fouled and headed to the line for 2 shots. With a big Wizards lead and the Verizon Center having fun for a change, the crowd was quite fired up for the occasion.

 Let's take a listen to what happened:




The fans serenaded the former Duke Blue Devil and ACC/All Basketball villain with a very loud and audible "JJ Sucks! JJ Sucks!" chant much to the delight of Martell Webster who encouraged the fans to keep up the noise.  The TV coverage panned the laughing/cheering crowd as Redick missed his first foul shot after the chant.  Chant Don't Lie!

Steve Buckhantz and Phil Chenier found it quite amusing as well.  Here's what they were saying:

Buck - "And the fans here expressing their appreciation to JJ Redick, and he misses the foul shot" 

Phil - "He doesn't miss many so they need some credit, Martell calling for the crowd to do it again"

Milwaukee's Best Downed By Wiz

Bradley Beal set a new career high with 28 points and the Wizards picked up their first win in Milwaukee since 2009, 102-90.

It was also Washington's first road win in the eastern conference.

The Wizards had a sluggish start trailing after the first quarter but Washington would outscore the Bucks 26-15 in the 2nd and never look back. The Bucks cut their deficit to six late in the fourth but that's as close as they would get.

Beal once again came off the bench and gave a sloppy Wizards team a spark the first half scoring 16. The rookie did have an awkward fall in the fourth and Wizard fans held their breath as it looked like Beal was clutching his wrist. However Beal stayed in the game and if he is still healthy, look for him to rejoin the starting lineup sometime soon.

Milwaukee was playing without NBA blocks leader and former VCU Ram Larry Sanders. So the Bucks were really in trouble when big man Samuel Dalembert had his fifth foul with over six minutes in the third quarter.  The Wizards big men took advantage.

Nene had a very impressive shooting night going 10-13 from the field scoring 21. He also managed to snag 13 rebounds. Emeka Oakafor also chipped in another double double with 12 points and ten rebounds

Despite making some mental mistakes down the stretch John Wall still looked very impressive. Monday night Wall had 14 points and ten assists and didn't seem bothered by a talented Milwaukee back court.

The Wiz kids will go for their fifth straight win Wednesday night in Detroit.

Coo Coo Cal Game Preview: Bucks @ Wizards

Last season when the Wizards played the Bucks, we used the same song.  But I don't think there are any other rappers from Milwaukee except this one hit wonder, Coo Coo Cal.  Plus the Bucks are playing in DC so BAM!


Last season the Wiz faced the Bucks early in the season at 0-2 and it is looking no different this season. The 0-3 Wizards are looking to get their first win of the season, in front of the home crowd.  The Bucks have already won 2 games so far.

In the short season last year the Wiz lost 3 out of 4 to the Bucks and this season the Bucks backcourt has taken a large step forward with Monta Ellis having all offseason to gel with teammates.  In the one Wizards win, Ellis was on the Bucks, and he finished with 31 points.

Crawford had 32 points in that previous meeting but right now J-Craw looks like he is shaken up from an ankle injury.  While he may try to play, his injury could be a big factor for his playing time like it was on Wednesday against the Celtics.

That means someone else has to step up...in the backcourt...

The Bucks backcourt has the skills to dominate AJ Price & the Wizards' shaky point guard offense and defense.  Therefore, the Wiz are going to have to depend on Kevin Seraphin inside to set a tone for the game.

One of the X-factors for the Bucks is Mike Dunleavy.  The Wizards usually all go into the paint on a drive but can't get back out to cover shooters.  I expect Dunleavy to hit a few backbreaking shots if the Wiz don't keep close to him.

Beal had a decent game against the Celtics, and is looking to repeat that performance...AJ Price needs to stop jacking and turning it over and start running the offense.

Wizards 78, Bucks 75

Brad Beal’s aggressive play helped lead a Wizards comeback and the Wiz defeated the Bucks on Wednesday afternoon in Vegas to cap off a 3-2 summer league.  

Beal used the second half to start attacking the basket instead of just shooting jumpers.  He scored several layups off the dribble and drove into the lane at will.  The former Gator led the Wizards with 18 points.  Beal is supposed to be a "shooter" but if he can attack the basket and create space, he should be able to make an impact in his rookie season.

Shelvin Mack & Chris Singleton did what they do.  They were streaky, made several good plays and several bad plays.  Both are good College/D-League players but in the NBA they don’t really fit in.  Vesely twisted his ankle in the first 2 minutes of the game and did not return.

The summer league is now over for the Wizards, and the next thing to look forward to is training camp...

The 0-2 Wizards will travel to Wisconsin on Friday night for a matchup against the 1-1 Bucks.  This season so far the Wizards have been led by Nick Young & John Wall, while the Bucks are getting good play out of Brandon Jennings & Andrew Bogut.

The Wizards started off their last game with a dud, and were down 11-0 in 2 minutes to the Atlanta Hawks.  The story of the game was the poor play of Andray Blatche who shot 2/13 from the field and finished the game with only 4 points and 4 rebounds.

The Bucks are coming off of a win at home against the young Timberwolves in a game where Brandon Jennings led the winning team but the game story was Kevin love getting 31 and 20.

This is a pretty important game for the Wizards who don't want to come home on Sunday to face a good Celtics team without a win.  In order to pull off the victory they need John Wall to outplay Brandon Jennings, which is going to be a tough challenge for Wall.

Latest Trade Rumor: Richard Jefferson & The Bucks

A lot of good stuff in the Chad Ford article today, talking about possible trades for the #5 pick including:

"The Bucks would send them Richard Jefferson."

PG: Gilbert Arenas
SG: Caron Butler
SF: Richard Jefferson
PF: Antawn Jamison
C: Brendan Haywood

That is a pretty small lineup, but could run the break pretty awesome. Jefferson and Gilbert Arenas get along pretty well, both being former Arizona players and friends. Last season RJ was lost in Milwaukee, but back when he was on the Nets he was a force. I'm up for this trade, I think Jefferson would fit in well.
