Wiz Blow Out Magic - Win Third Straight

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Monday, January 14, 2013

The Wizards never trailed Monday night and dominated the Orlando Magic 120-91. By far the Wizards biggest victory of the season.

For Wizards fans it's a sight for sore eyes; a healthy roster for the first time all year leading to a three game win streak. Six players were in double figures for Washington and the team defense is stronger than it's been all year

The Wizards did play sloppy at the end of the first half and the Magic were able to cut their deficit from 19 to 6. But for the most part Washington dominated, in fact the Wizards scored 37 in the third quarter, the most of any quarter this season.

Its obvious the team has a new swagger with John Wall back in the lineup. Wall had 12 points and six assists in 20 minutes off the bench.

But Wall isn't the only Wizard returning from injury contributing to the team. A.J. Price played well in his third game back dropping18 he also had six assists.

Believe it or not Wizards fans but Jan Vesely had yet another impressive game. Vesely finished strong in the paint multiple times including a few alley oops.  On the night he had ten points seven rebounds and four assists. Hopefully the negative criticism on Vesely was pre-mature and we can look forward to more progress from the former number six overall pick.

Kevin Seraphin also continues to impress snagging 18 points with five rebounds and four assists.

The Wizards will now take their three game win streak out west for a five game road trip. The first stop is Wednesday night in Sacramento.

And...John Wall...nuff' said...

Magic Player Jumps OVER John Wall Then Wall Crosses Him Up

Written By Chris C-Ford ----

Here's something you don't see every day!  It's Ish Smith of the Orlando Magic jumping completely over the Washington Wizards John Wall as he ducks under and between his legs.  Ish Smith missed the block on the jump, yet bounces right back up after he lands to block Wall.

Later in the game Wall returns the favor with a crossover move that sends Ish Smith crashing to the floor.  Both GIFs below:

Wizards Win Their 4th Game

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Saturday, December 29, 2012

After a slow start the Washington Wizards looked like a professional basketball team for one of the few times this season, defeating the Orlando Magic 105-97 at Verizon Center on Friday night for their 4th win of the season.  The Magic looked like the team that was fighting for a moral victory as the Wizards controlled the game for most of the second half.

Jordan Crawford (27) and Nene (23) each scored over 20 points which was the first time all season the Wiz had two players accomplish that "feat" in a single game.  Crawford played a more controlled game, and the times that he was in "jack mode" the shots fell.

The Wizards also got a surprising performance out of Garrett Temple who shot 6-8 from the field and scored 13 points, causing Randy Wittman to stick Shelvin Mack on the bench.

In young player news, Chris Singleton didn't play and Jan Vesely made a cameo for under 4 minutes.  Bradley Beal scored 11 points but shot poorly again.  He did provide a rare Wizards highlight on a long  athletic alley-oop from Jordan Crawford.

In the first few minutes of the game the Magic took a commanding lead when Jameer Nelson hit 3 straight 3 pointers.  That was another reason that the starting point guard Shelvin Mack found himself in the doghouse.  Wittman may consider starting Garrett Temple tomorrow night in Chicago.

Soldier Tries To Dunk Off Trampoline, Fails, Rips Net, Delays Game 13 Minutes

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Sunday, November 4, 2012

Wow what a long title.  And a non-Wizards story.  I just happened to check out NBA League Pass at the time that this happened in the Suns @ Magic game.

It was soldier night in Orlando and they had a guy come out and attempt a dunk off a trampoline.  The soldier airballed the dunk (Jan Vesely style) and instead of grabbing the rim ended up grabbing the net, which snapped out of the rim.

The game was delayed for 13 minutes as the "net guy" tried and failed to weave the net in the rim correctly so he had to start over and re-weave it.

Washington Wizards @ Orlando Magic

Oh hot damn...this is my jam...

The Wizards are coming off of their best performance of the season including good games from JaVale McGee and Andray Blatche.  However John Wall has been playing too fast and the Wizards can't make a decent percentage of shots, especially at the shooting guard position.  They make me throw my hands in the ayer, ay, ayer, ayer, ay, ayer.

The Zards are low, low, low, low, low, low, low, low...

Despite the good play, the Washington Wizards are now the only team without a win in the NBA and playing against Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic isn't going to help much.  Maybe if the Magic come out in apple bottom jeans the Wiz can pick up a W.

Wall spins them right round baby, right round...

In order to pick up a victory Wall needs to SLOW DOWN.  He seemed exhausted at the end of last game and he often outruns his teammates down the floor (partly because they are jogging).  Sometimes he expends all his energy to get to the basket and he misses the layup.  When he goes down, he goes down down.

I'm blue and I'm in need of a high...

These are trying times for Wizards fans.  We need a win.  Our team is called the Wizards.  That is a joke enough.  But to be the only winless team.  Double joke.  I'd rather you call me Sugar than a Wizards fan sometimes.

The fans can't even handle us right now...

These are trying times for Wizards fans.  We need a win.  Our team is called the Wizards.  That is a joke enough.  But to be the only winless team.  Double joke.  I'm guessing that losing the lottery will be the grand finale like Super Bowl.

Oooh Ooooh Sometimes I get a good feeling, yeah...

Those times are not on Wednesday night against the Magic.  Instead I get a feeling that I never never never never had before...an 0-66 feeling.

Little 9: Magic Vs Wizards

Written By Chris C-Ford ----

Everyone in the NBA talks about the term "The Big 3". Many teams supposedly have them and they are the reason teams win. The Wiz have one in Butler, Arenas, & Jamison. The Magic have one in Howard, Hedu, and Lewis.

Last season the Magic made it to the Conference Semis. So what did the Magic do in the offseason to take the next step? Did they egotistically think that they could have won barring certain injuries or plays? Nope. Did they say "oh the big 3 will improve" Nope. Did they say "We were 1st place at XXX date in XXX year" Did they go with "we were in the playoffs, so naturally next year we will improve" No. They went out and made moves.

The Magic improve their "little 9", the 9 non-starters, every single season. The Wiz assume injuries are their problem, and keep the same old guys.

Two of the Magic starters and one key bench guy in last nights game were not on the team last season. Courtney Lee was drafted, and Rafer Alston was acquired in a trade. They also added Mickael Pietrus. Meanwhile, the Wizards starting lineup always seems to have Stevenson & Haywood, and Blatche and Etan Thomas have been coming off the bench for years.

This offseason, the Wizards need to overhaul the Little 9. Stevenson, Blatche, Thomas, Young, McGuire, McGee, Crittendon. I don't care, get rid of them all. Set up a table outside the Verizon Center and put them on display in a yard sale. Bring in some role players and ummm A 3 POINT SHOOTER or two! Bring back Tim Legler if you have to.

And stop the "we are one move away" attitude. Let me count the moves away. Stevenson. Pecherov. Mike James. That's 3 moves away right there and I came up with that in 4 seconds.

If a team in the playoffs needs to make some moves to go farther, surely a last place team needs to make moves as well. (Don't call me Shirly) So who else is up for a complete overhaul?
