Bob Ryan Thinks Wizards Can Be #1 Contenders In The East

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Thursday, July 10, 2014

Bob Ryan was filling in for Tony Kornheiser on ESPN's PTI show. Ryan had some interesting comments concerning the Washington Wizards. Ryan seems to think that if Lebron James leaves Miami that the Washington Wizards will all of a sudden take a big leap in the east. Here's what he had to say.

"Are you ready for this...the new favorite to win the East if Lebron vacates Miami...the WASHINGTON WIZARDS! That's who."

Wilbon responded as if he was a Wizards fan himself.

"That sentence has never been spoken on any show dealing with basketball..."

Lol. True.

Kornheiser Praises RG3 And Believes That Is The ONLY Reason The Wizards Beat The Heat

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Wednesday, December 5, 2012

The Wizards big win over the Heat last night was a decently big NBA story due to how good the Heat are and how bad the Wizards are.  The win even made PTI's opening teaser, and was the 2nd item talked about on the show (slow news day).

Kornheiser said he watched the last 5 minutes because he kept switching over to Mark Wahlberg's Contraband before that. Lol.

Wilbon: "That's great of you to give them 5 minutes on the greatest night of their lives, that's nice of you"

Kornheiser:  "The answer is very simple, It Is RG3esus! That is the answer here!  Ted Leonsis, the owner, had been sitting in that seat all season long, they hadn't won squat! Griffin shows up, BOOM, they win, that is the answer!"

Wilbon said it was because the Wiz get people every 15 games and were playing the champs, so they played their hardest.

Liking The Wizards Worst Decision Of Tony Kornheiser's Life

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Tuesday, November 27, 2012

PTI smashed the Wizards once again.  After earlier in the show Tony admitted he watched the Wizards game instead of the Knicks/Nets game.

The question in the "Toss Up" game was who had a worse loss the night before, the Bobcats who were at one point down almost 50 points, or the Wiz who got blown out for their 12th straight loss.

TONY:  "Now the Wizards are unspeakably awful...(your team)...and they didn't even guard San Antonio...(your team)...last night...and they are 0-12..."

MIKE:  "You have renounced your citizenship in NY to take up with the Wizards which is easily the worst decision of your life"

TONY:  "Jury is still out"

Tony picked the Bobcats and of course, Wilbon said the Bulls, which weren't even a choice.

PTI: Wizards A Disgrace!

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Wednesday, November 14, 2012

During PTI's toss up game the 0-6 Wizards once again made the game, and once again it wasn't for a good reason.  Let's listen to Wilbon & Kornheiser Crush the wiz after being asked this question:

Most likely to get their first win tonight: Pistons or Wizards?

Tony: "The Wizards are a disgrace.  I watched them last night.  They got beat BAD by the terrible Bobcats.  They got beat bad. Their starting guards AJ Price and Bradley Beal, #3 pick I think overall pick in the draft in the draft, were like 3 for 23, these are NBA starting guards, I can't believe they charge money to watch this team.  It's AWFUL."

Wilbon: "At one point the Wizards missed like 15 shots in a row, and I said, 'That's it, I'm done with this'".

Tony decided not to pick anyone because the Wiz made him so sick, and Wilbon went with the Wizards.

PTI Files: Wizards Will Be Crying A River

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Wednesday, November 7, 2012

The guys at PTI always have some great things to say about the Wizards.  That is why it is such an awesome show, because DC teams are brought up all the time randomly cuz both TK & Wilbon were DC Sports Writers.

Here is what had me laughing today...during the pre-commercial teaser:

Wilbon: "Which Wizard was brought to tears after a recent loss..."

Tony: "Whoever it was get used to it, cuz they're gonna lose some more..."

Wilbon: "There's not enough tears, that's cry me a river...are you kidding me!"

Tony: "...they're gonna lose about 60"

Ahhhh...love it...then the bit was about Beal crying after the loss to the Celtics...

Tony: "2 for 13, you don't joke about that"

Wilbon Would Rather Have Ricky Rubio

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Saturday, June 27, 2009

In Michael Wilbon's latest column, he talks about how the Wizards should have kept the #5 pick to draft Rubio, and how Rubio is Pistol Pete.
Before the draft, it was hard to tell about the Mike Miller & Randy Foye trade. Any number of players were expected to be around at pick #5. When grading the trade, you also had to speculate on who the Wizards would have drafted instead. After listening to Ernie Grunfeld, it was very hard to tell. There were tons of different options and everyone had their own opinion.
One of those guys at spot #5 was not supposed to be Ricky Rubio, a fact that one could only see after the draft was over. However, Ricky was available, and it gave people a more solid idea to compare when talking #5 vs trade.
That leads us now to 2 main types of people. People who like having Miller & Foye vs people who would rather have Ricky Rubio. When you think about it, that is the whole entire theme of the NBA draft. Proven vs Hype.
Wilbon leads the hype crowd in thinking that Rubio could be the next best thing, and since Miller & Foye aren't the final answer, you may as well draft Ricky.
I am in the other crowd, thinking that Miller & Foye are decent players, while Rubio is probably not any good and not worth the risk. (with teams like the Skins & the Nats, I need a playoff team NOW, not in 3 years)
So what is the point of this post? Basically so you go and read Wilbon's article. Love it, Hate it, do whatever. I usually read his articles and want to debate him like Kornheiser just about every time.
