Nexus Connections: G-Wiz Dances, G-Wiz Gangnam Styles

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Tuesday, April 16, 2013

Sometimes the different DC Sports teams all come together to provide worthy (or non-worthy) fun and excitement.  Instead of just posting it a zillion times, this segment will just link you over to the main story.

You just saw G-Wiz deliver the flying clothesline to Teddy of the Nats.  Now watch as an inflatable version of the giant blue wizard thing dances to Drake, Pitbull, and of course, as all mascot bits end, to Gangnam Style.  Do we really have to keep ending our mascot bits with that?

Unveiling The Wizard With Martell Webster

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Friday, March 15, 2013

Martell Webster threw down a two handed jam during the Wizards 96-87 victory over the New Orleans Hornets on Friday night at Verizon Center.  Martell was pumped up and he crossed his arms across the front of his jersey looking like he was doing some spinoff of the superman move that is all the rage with guys like Cam Newton and Dwayne Wade.

After Martell did it the camera cut to the bench where John Wall was loving it too.  So here it is, Martell Webster and John Wall unveiling the Wizard!

John Wall Returns, Verizon Empty, Guy Sleeps

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Sunday, January 13, 2013

Not exactly the most excited the Verizon Center and Wizards fans have been, in fact it was a little sad...but John Wall was back! (Blame the Ravens game & the NFL playoffs)

After months and months of waiting, the Washington Wizards finally welcomed back John Wall to the lineup on Saturday night at Verizon.  Wall was not in the starting lineup, and entered the game with just under 5 minutes remaining in the first quarter.  For the first seven minutes of the game, fans had their eyes fixated on the guy in the #2 warm-ups, anxiously awaiting the hand gesture from Randy Wittman that signaled John Wall to check into his first game since April of 2012.

The Verizon Center was extremely empty on Saturday night despite the fans knowing of Wall's return for several days in advance.  On StubHub at the time of the game tickets could be purchased for as low as $10 a seat.

But that didn't stop the fans that did attend from giving Wall an extended standing ovation, sparking life into a once dead Washington Wizards fanbase.  Wall acknowledged the crowd with a little salute.  Here is what it looked like and sounded like from the rafters:

Wall missed his first shot attempt, an elbow jumper, and scored his first point of the season on a foul shot.  Shortly after getting on the floor, Wall dished a nice pass to rookie Bradley Beal who threw down the monster jam electrifying the Verizon Center.  Wall gave a JaVale McGee salute to the crowd as he ran back on defense.

Wall's 14 points, 4 assists, and all around presence helped lead the Wizards to their second consecutive win.  (Read the game recap here)  It was more exciting than this guy would lead you to believe.

How The Washington Wizards Crush My Soul

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Saturday, January 5, 2013

On Friday night the Washington Wizards were up 8 points with only 1:27 left to go in the game.  It looked as if the Wizards were in control for their 5th win of the season.  But...it was the Wizards, and as the Wizards do, they crushed everyone.

The season has been awful for games and the crowds have been sparce.  However, there was a bit of a special feeling in the air at Verizon as the game with the Nets went on.  Maybe it was Andray Blatche or maybe it was just a fun friday night, but the crowd was emotionally invested in the game like they have been few times this season.

This is video of a fan reaction to the overtime collapse, and the emotions that run through Wizards fans every game.  We say we are giving up, but we just can't...they drag us back in...then slap us in the face:

And seriously Jordan Crawford.  Pass the freaking ball...

Juicy J Attends Wizards Game, Gets Wasted

Written By Chris C-Ford ----

Another fun thing that happened at Friday night's game between the Brooklyn Nets and the Washington Wizards at Verizon Center was that Juicy J Showed up.  The Three 6 Mafia member was totally Sippin' on some Sizzurp, the only way to make it through a full Wizards game...

At one point in the upper decks, a group of about 10 bros started chanting his name...like the guy on the floor could hear them...

Juicy J is big now from the "Bandz A Make Her Dance" song that is on the radio 24-7.  But clearly his best song was when Triple 6 did the Sizzurp song (both NSFW):

I love DC.  Our in game DJ (that's really a thing) was Tigger who hosted BET's Rap City the Bassment (not misspelled).  We got John Wall hangin with Ludacris (and a bunch more), then we get guys like Soulja Boy (lol) and Wale at the games!  Go Wiz!

The 12 Days Of Wizmas

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Monday, December 24, 2012

Christmas is coming, so I thought it would be a great time to sing some DC Sports themed holiday carols!  Here is my version of the 10 days of Christmas...the 10 days of Wizmas!!!  I'd write down the lyrics but I don't want to give it away!

It goes like this..."On the first day of Wizmas, Leonsis gave to me..."

Worst Video Ever, Golden Eagle Steals Jan Vesely

Here is a very NSFW language-wise Asap Rocky Wizards parody rap.  Why?  Because Wizards.

CSN Comcast's Michael Jenkins Goes Crazy On The Air About A Wizards Win

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Tuesday, December 4, 2012

On Tuesday night the Washington Wizards defeated the Miami Heat at Verizon Center.  When the game was over, Wizards fans on Twitter erupted in joy like the 2 win team had just won the Super Bowl.  However, nobody freaked out more than CSN's Michael Jenkins who live on the air sort of went Wizards crazy/Anti-Lebron insane.  The clip:

Check out Comcast for video...

Take that Lebron!  Look at that trash talk!  Sportsman of the year Lebron? More like blortsman of the blear!  My favorite part is the falsetto voice where he sends the Heat back to Miami.  Worst Buckhantz impression ever?

Wizards Freestyle: F'ing With My Wiz (Kanye Parody)

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Thursday, November 15, 2012

The Wizards are now 0-7.  Only the second team in NBA history to start 2 consecutive seasons with 7 straight losses.  So I only had one choice.  To express my anger in a horrible rap freestyle over the Kanye West & Jay-Z song "Clique" off of Kanye's new collaboration album G.O.O.D. Music.

That is why this is called B.A.D. Basketball...Enjoy:

Lyrics:

Yeah I’m talkin Wall, Yeah I’m talkin AJ,
Yeah I’m talkin Beal, Bro I’m talkin Nene

Yeah I’m talkin slopply I ain’t talkin clean
Your jumper too short you can’t be talkin to me

I ain’t talkin LeBron, Far from that family tree
BAD Basket BALL, ain’t nothin fuckin with me

We, Turn that 0 wins to 0 wins 0 wins to zero
O more to a half of zero ain’t no team like zero more

Now who with me Vamanos, lets find a team that’s cray cray
Translation: Wizards shit, least that’s what the fans say

Least that’s what the tv say, losing games for decades
Team down for like 35 years, not champions since the disco days

Uh truth be told, who we gonna beat, we the bottom of the bowl
It’s the Dream Team meats the Scream Team

And all our hopes dreams, it only means one thing

You ain't fuckin With My Wiz
Everybody fresher than the mother fuckin Wiz
As I look around they don’t do it like my Wiz
And all these bad players they need to…quit...

You Just Got Jan Vesely'd!!!

Gilbert Arenas: A Love Story

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Monday, September 3, 2012

Here is an interesting movie that was filmed the day after Gilbert Arenas was traded from the Washington Wizards to the Orlando Magic for Rashard Lewis.  It was a sad time for DC, but people in town knew it had to be done.

The movie sat idle on an old laptop computer, never completed for several years.  However, I recently pulled up the old shots and mixed in a few new ones to complete the Greatest Washington Wizards Story ever told (since Buckhantz Island at least)

Enjoy...and don't cry too much
