Nexus Connections: G-Wiz Dances, G-Wiz Gangnam Styles

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Tuesday, April 16, 2013

Sometimes the different DC Sports teams all come together to provide worthy (or non-worthy) fun and excitement.  Instead of just posting it a zillion times, this segment will just link you over to the main story.

You just saw G-Wiz deliver the flying clothesline to Teddy of the Nats.  Now watch as an inflatable version of the giant blue wizard thing dances to Drake, Pitbull, and of course, as all mascot bits end, to Gangnam Style.  Do we really have to keep ending our mascot bits with that?

G-Wiz and Slapshot Team Up To Clothesline Teddy

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Sunday, April 14, 2013

What happens when you get a bunch of mascots together during the President's Race at Nats Park?  How about the DC Mascot Tag Team the "Monumental Mascots", The Washington Wizards G-Wiz and the Washington Captials Slapshot, taking out one of the greatest presidents of all time.  You have to see what happened.

Oh Noes! Why are the Wizards On Instead Of The Caps! F The World!!!

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Tuesday, April 2, 2013

The Wizards and the Capitals have had several conflicts this season.  In some of them the Wizards or Caps are put on CSN+ while the other team gets the regular CSN treatment.  However, every time this happens fans on Twitter flip out and start cursing the team that they don't want to watch.

Today's rage comes from Caps fans who feel like the Caps should ALWAYS be on regular CSN despite being in a similar place in the standings as the Wizards. (The Caps are 11th in the East, the Wizards are 10th in the East)...OK, so the Wizards can't make the playoffs and the Caps are only a few out, I get it.  But you probably get both stations, and the games on are not determined by record, so WHO CARES which one it is on!

I've got 2 TVs right next to each other, so I get to watch both games.  Here are some people who don't, or who don't want to.  RAGE!!!

I'd question people's fanhood since they should already have had this problem before, but even I forget the 2nd channel number sometimes when the guide tells me false things.  In fact the other night in Fairfax, CSN+ had Sportscenter on and I went crazy. Later I switched back and they finally put the Wizards game on.  So who knows what is going on.

BTW, if you don't like both the Caps & the Wizards, you are missing 82 awesome nights in a boring and cold winter.

The DC Fat 5: The Five Most Memorable Fatties In DC Sports

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Tuesday, January 8, 2013

Obesity.  A problem that is plaguing America.  Children and adults alike, eating junk food all day long, not doing any physical activity, and blowing up like Red Rally Balloons.

Clearly, those are just regular people.  People who spend their days sitting on couches watching soap operas all day.  People who work in offices where they sit in a chair for 10 straight hours.  People who haven't run anywhere except back to the buffet before the Pizza Hut employees take away the Pizza at the end of lunch.

This is not a problem with professional athletes.  Men and women who are paid to keep their bodies in perfect condition.  People whose bodies are their livelihood.  People who's job it is to not be overweight.  Right?

Maybe not...The following picture surfaced this week, only days before the previously injured Washington Wizards #1 draft pick and star was supposed to return to the court.  For the player who once famously in an interview showed off his kitchen pantry filled with Gushers and other junk food exclaiming "I got all the snacks man", his lack of playing seems to have taken a toll on his body.

But this type of photo popping up online is nothing new to Washington DC Sports.  Let's take a look back at some other similar situations...I present to you The DC Fat 5: The Five Most Memorable Fatties In DC Sports

Fred's Take, Ted Leonsis Parody Blog

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Friday, December 7, 2012

Hello everyone who doesn't have Twitter but reads the site.  We have branched out to do some more comedy by creating Fred's Take, a blog that takes the posts of Ted Leonsis and changes them around to make them more "truthful".

The idea is to open this blog and Ted's Take and compare the two stories...we also will have some bonus content on there as well.

Check It Out!

Nexus Now: Brad Beal, 2 Chainz, The Cardshow & More

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Thursday, August 23, 2012

Hey everyone.  Episode 2 of Nexus Now is out and it is quite Wizards heavy despite the offseason.  Well, let me rephrase that.  It is really Bradley Beal heavy.  But what do you expect, I basically run a Beal Twitter-Stalking web site here.

You'll see lots of lame Beal tweets, some commentary on his card show video, and you find out why I dressed up like 2 Chainz and do a freestyle rap?  Find out below!

Nexus Now Episode 1

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Monday, August 13, 2012

At the DC Sports Nexus, we created a show to add to our coverage of the DC Sports teams.  The show is called Nexus Now and will be a weekly or monthly show with lots of fun stuff.  Each time we do it we will try to add new stuff and actually turn on the HD switch on our cameras.

In the first (and possibly only) ever episode, we interview the famous Nationals Rally Kid, a huge 10 year old Nats fan who is traveling around the country trying to hit every Major League Stadium.  We talk about how he helped the Nats win, and we talk to his father about the famous Bob Carpenter Scorebook and the secret Carp doesn't want you to know.

I also talk about each of the 4 DC Sports teams, watch some dancing by umpires and Davey Johnson, and my favorite part, "Oh, Hello"!  Check it out!

Should I Follow The Capitals?

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Wednesday, October 10, 2007

Please take the poll in the right column (at the top) of this page. The question is about weather or not I should follow the Caps this year on this blog, even if its just a little. Your choices are:

Yes: Hockey is great.
No: Stick to the real sports.

Here are some facts about me and hockey:
  • I haven't watched a hockey game since I saw the Mighty Ducks movie as a child.
  • My favorite thing about hockey is playing the EA Sports NHL games for Super Nintendo & Sega.
  • Last year my addiction to fantasy sports led me to actually pay MONEY to enter a fantasy hockey league. I ended up watching 1 hockey game the whole season, yet ended up with $150 and a 1st place victory.
  • I've never been to a Redskins open practice, yet I've seen the Jersey Devils practice in person.
  • When I turned on Comcast and saw a Caps game instead of a Wizards game last year, I was furious. Why were the Wizards on Channel 8 news!
  • I went to my first hockey game (Caps) last year and sat in the lower level. It was pretty damn fun. (also like 7 goals were scored)
