Steve Buckhantz Drops His First Twitter "Dagger!" Fail

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Sunday, October 11, 2015

The Washington Redskins kicked a 53 yard game tying field goal to send their game against the Falcons into overtime on Sunday afternoon and Washington Wizards play by play man Steve Buckhantz was excited. Buck was so excited that he threw out his famous catch phrase, used exclusively (well supposed to) for game winning, not tying, plays.

Unfortunately for the Skins, this was not a Dagger, and the Falcons delivered a real dagger as they picked off Kirk Cousins and scored a touchdown to defeat the Redskins. Radio man Andy Pollin was on top of this.

Buckhantz is the greatest announcer in the history of the universe, and even when he is dropping premature daggers (or retracting daggers) he is still keeping us entertained!

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Saturday, February 16, 2013

Here is Wale at the NBA All-Star game on Saturday night during the dunk contest.  Charles Barkley was heckling him for wearing the fur hood indoors.  He's got the Redskins chain on too.  What are you doing Wale!

Wale also hung out with Craig Sager, Shaq, Roger Mason, Wolf Blitzer, and more...

Pierre Garcon At The Wizards Game

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Wednesday, February 6, 2013

Here is Washington Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon hanging out with G-Wiz on Wednesday night at the Verizon Center during the Wizards vs Knicks matchup.  This is actually a good cross promotion between two DC sports teams (Unlike what the Caps are doing).

At one point in time, Garcon said he was a Kobe and Lakers fan.  He's probably just there to check out Carmello.

Randy Wittman Makes Mike Shanahan Zing After Wizards Win

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Monday, January 7, 2013

Just one night after the Washington Redskins lost, not just a playoff game to the Seattle Seahawks, but possibly the future of their star quarterback, the Washington Wizards shocked the NBA world by defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder with a buzzer beater using just a 9 man roster.

When the game was over, Randy Wittman was flying high, and started off his press conference with the media by bringing some light to the RG3 situation and causing the media to lose composure and start laughing (in a oooooooh u dissed Shanahan kind of way).

Wittman started his press conference off in a sly way explaining to the media why the two previously injured Wizards players, AJ Price and Trevor Ariza returned:

"Being down 7 guys and having to talk AJ and Trevor ...with the doctor's approval...Ok...WITH THE DOCTOR'S APPROVAL ...alright...I just want to make that clear, I don't want anything started here...that they could give me some minutes"

Ouch.  That hurts Randy. Kicking Shanny when he is down...have you seen the Wizards record?  Lol.

If you weren't aware, Monday was a day to crush Mike Shanahan in the media for allowing RG3 to return to action in the Skins game because the star got injured.  There also was a story before the game about how the coach didn't really get the doctor's  (James Andrew) approval before placing him back into the Ravens game a few weeks ago, which could have made the injury worse.

RG3 Gives Lebron James, John Wall Hugs

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Tuesday, December 4, 2012

After the Washington Wizards upset the Miami Heat, Lebron James & Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III embraced on the sidelines.  Then RG3 gave some fives & hugs to some of the Wizards players. (More on RG3 at the Game Here)

This is the worst GIF in the history of DC Sports.  Our basketball Arch-Enemy and our football God giving each other some dap.  Looks like he says "THANKS BABY!"

RG3 Robert Griffin And The Redskins At The Wizards Game

Written By Chris C-Ford ----

Fresh off his huge Monday Night victory over the New York Giants, the Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III was at Verizon Center watching the worst team in the NBA.  That's like Quentin Tarintino watching Maid In Manhattan.  (I'll work on that Zing later) They were most likely there to see Lebron James and the Miami Heat.  (Here is Lebron James giving a hug to RG3)

"Glad to be here, glad to show support for the home town team" -RG3

DC Sports Nexus

Several Skins were at the game including Brian Orakpo, Trent Williams,  Leonard Hankerson (supporting the Heat), and Fred Davis.

RG3 arrived late to his seats (jerk!) and was announced to the crowd midway through the first quarter to a big ovation.  The Wiz played "Hail To The Redskins".

Next Week's enemy Terrell Suggs of the Baltimore Ravens was also in attendance.

Wizards Scrubs Outplay Starters, Mount Huge Comeback In Defeat

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Thursday, November 15, 2012

The Washington Wizards trailed by as many as 22 points, but a 4th quarter surge led by Cartier Martin & Kevin Seraphin's 22 straight 4th quarter points had the Wiz within 3 points in the final 2 minutes   However three Mavs offensive rebounds later the Dallas Mavericks broke their 3 game losing streak and picked up the win.

After a Detroit win tonight, the Wizards are the only winless team in the NBA.

Randy Wittman has been using players like Jan Vesely, Jannero Pargo, Seraphin, and Cartier Martin sparingly, but all four were on the floor for the comeback effort.  That group played intense basketball and looked nothing like the starters who typically loligag, fire up bad jumpers, and don't play physical defense.

On paper they aren't better players. But the game isn't played on paper...

While the Wizards haven't won a game, the people who spark the comebacks and actually play hard get DNPs.  Will Cartier Martin and his 5-6 shooting and 4-4 from the three point line play 1 second on Saturday?  Or will Wittman give that playing time to Bradley Beal who was 3-14 and 2-6 from downtown?

Comcast's "What Will Jan Vesely Do" Bit...Answer...B

Jordan Crawford led the Wizards with 21 points and he was playing lots of minutes at point guard.  And that meant dribble dribble dribble streetball pass, dribble dribble dribble chuck, dribble dribble dribble turnover.

Jordan and his steez launched another random 3 pointer from 5 steps behind the arc with a guy covering him.  It was so unexpected that Steve Buckhantz didn't even have time to say "jacks it up" as the ball was already clanging off the rim when Buck noticed.  JC also had a technical and a turnover in key moments of the 4th quarter

In screaming news, Martell Webster yelled "GET IN THERE GIRL!" on a free throw that was rolling around the rim.  Meanwhile Jordan Crawford yells "AND ONE!" on jump shots...Honestly I've never used SMH in my life, but J-Craw has added it to my lexicon.

At one point in the second quarter the Mavs had 4 straight fast breaks off missed Wizards shots/turnovers/blocked shots.  It was at that point I screamed out "FIRE THE WHOLE TEAM!" It was the worst few minutes of basketball I have ever seen at the NBA level.

Nexus Now: Brad Beal, 2 Chainz, The Cardshow & More

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Thursday, August 23, 2012

Hey everyone.  Episode 2 of Nexus Now is out and it is quite Wizards heavy despite the offseason.  Well, let me rephrase that.  It is really Bradley Beal heavy.  But what do you expect, I basically run a Beal Twitter-Stalking web site here.

You'll see lots of lame Beal tweets, some commentary on his card show video, and you find out why I dressed up like 2 Chainz and do a freestyle rap?  Find out below!

Nexus Now Episode 1

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Monday, August 13, 2012

At the DC Sports Nexus, we created a show to add to our coverage of the DC Sports teams.  The show is called Nexus Now and will be a weekly or monthly show with lots of fun stuff.  Each time we do it we will try to add new stuff and actually turn on the HD switch on our cameras.

In the first (and possibly only) ever episode, we interview the famous Nationals Rally Kid, a huge 10 year old Nats fan who is traveling around the country trying to hit every Major League Stadium.  We talk about how he helped the Nats win, and we talk to his father about the famous Bob Carpenter Scorebook and the secret Carp doesn't want you to know.

I also talk about each of the 4 DC Sports teams, watch some dancing by umpires and Davey Johnson, and my favorite part, "Oh, Hello"!  Check it out!

We're Off To See The Deadskins

I decided to move out all my Redskins posts to another page. The Skins site will be updated less frequently. See that new fancy button up top. It allows you to switch over to the skins page. This way people who want to read about Donyell Marshall don't have to read about Brandon Marshall. What?

LaVar Arrington Sighting

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Friday, October 19, 2007

Last night I decided I would go out on the town. I grabbed $40 out of the ATM and was ready to party. I hit up the hippest bar in Fairfax, VA called Buffalo Wing University, where the average GPA is DD.

The bar was pretty crowded like usual, after all it was dollar beer night. I went to the counter and decided I would order a frosty beverage. The first thing I noticed was that a female bartender was wearing a fishnet shirt. The second thing I noticed was LaVar Arrington was pouring me a drink.

LaVar was pouring and taking shots as a group of losers...real big losers...started singing Hail To The Redskins. "Didn't he play for the Giants last year" someone commented. Guys were scrambling for anything they could find for LaVar to sign. One guy seriously said "you think he will sign my face". "Man LaVar is getting wasted!!!" someone else screamed. "Maybe that's why he crashed his motorcycle" another person shouted.

I quickly told my friend to take some pictures. All he had was a stupid cell phone camera. Having a photo on your cell is like looking at thumbnail pictures of porn. Just not worth it. Anyways, he needed to use the bathroom so he went to the Safeway next door. He picked me up some kind of strange thing that looked like a digital camera, but it apparently had something called "film" inside.

I snatched the camera from him when he returned but I screwed up and the camera hit the floor, taking a picture as it fell to the ground. I picked it up and looked around, but LaVar was gone. I frantically asked bystanders about the whereabouts of LaVar. I heard several things including "He's been outside in his Maserati with some white chick for like 20 minutes and his foot keeps stepping on and off the brake"

So I ran outside, camera in hand, and searched for whatever a Maserati was. I assumed it was nicer than the 94' Honda Accords and pickup trucks that lined the parking lot and nothing out there looked remotely nice. He was gone...and I had only taken one photo, and that was of the ground.

Chill Winston

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Monday, October 8, 2007

The Redskins are going to the Super Bowl! They just beat a terrible team!!!!

The Lions beat Oakland (stinks) and Minnesota (stinks) and the Bears when they fell apart. The Eagles beat the Lions 56-21. Are the Lions any good? No. They are pretty awful. Next up for beating the Lions are the Cowboys and the Giants. If all 4 teams in the division beat Detroit, this win is pointless. It won't even help in the wild card since it will be an NFC east team in the wildcard. Its good to get a win, but come on. It wasn't an amazing thing to hold Jon Kitna down. He is freakin Jon Kitna.

Really? Jason Campbell is MMmm MMmm Good? That's clever. I never would have thought of that. I guess beating a joke of a team makes you Dan Marino. Its not like Joey Harrington led the Falcons to a win against a decent Texans team last week. Oh he did? Man he must be like a Hall of Fame QB to do that. I just looked at the Lion's schedule. They will lose at least 9 more games.

Even with all that, the Skins did play a great game. They looked really good. It was pretty awesome. But the correct answer is "Good game, lets get ready for Green Bay" not "Campbell Hall of Fame, Sellers Better Than Tomlinson, Redskins D Unstoppable, Super Bowl Bound"

And Green Bay....how could they lose that game. The Bears offense is the worst.

Ok, I'm done...

Go Skins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Skins & Plaxico

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Sunday, September 23, 2007

As of 11am game day, there are still conflicting reports about weather or not Plaxico Burress will play. There are no conflicting results about WHO CARES! I'm a little worried about the same thing happening that did last week. The Eagles were picked to win by "everyone" and got beat at home. This week the Redskins are an even bigger pick to win by "everyone". This is my favorite quote about the game, from Bill Barnwell over at Rotoworld.

There's not a figure you could tell me that I would say "That's too high of a projection for Chris Cooley this week". 100 catches for 7,000 yards and 26 TD's? Sounds plausible to me. They run out of footballs because Chris Cooley's caught them all, and the game ends in the third quarter? Sure. The point is, Cooley's a lock for a big game this week.

All positive projections aside, I have to remember that I am a negative person, skeptical, and overall a Debbie Downer. I can imagine that we are gonna hear some "big disappointment" "needed to win" and "Skins are terrible" quotes in the upcoming week going into the bye. Man its hard to pick against the Skins this week...

But if they do win, we get "Skins are going to the Super Bowl" for another 2 full weeks...

GO SKINS!!!!

Elisha Manning

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Friday, September 21, 2007

Reports from Elisha Manning are that this is fake (and that it is photoshopped worse than the original)...Good Luck Redskins, I hear she has a good arm. Giants are going down...just like Elisha does every night...GO SKINS!!!

Brandon Lloyd...Are You Kidding Me?

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Thursday, September 20, 2007

The Washington Post had an article about a Halo tournament that Brandon Lloyd had at his house.

"Redskins wide receiver Brandon Lloyd played host, while Microsoft filled the game room of his Leesburg home with widescreen TVs, Xboxes and four copies of Halo 3. Lloyd and teammates Ryan Boschetti, Mike Sellers, and Nehemiah "Nemo" Broughton shot and lobbed grenades at some of their NFL colleagues playing online in San Francisco and Cincinnatti. "

I'm not sure, but the article/video made it seem like they were playing against Carson Palmer & Alex Smith...

Are you Joking? This guy is rapping and playing Halo more than he is playing football. So far this season he has 0 catches for 0 yards. Gilbert Arenas plays Halo all day and does crazy things, but at least he produces on the court.

This was my favorite quote of the article:

"As an NFL player, Lloyd notices more than the average player how that virtual version "cheats" the real football experience, he said. "

I'm guessing by "cheats" he means that in the video game, his character actually catches or even tries to catch the ball when it is thrown to him.

Yeah, in conclusion, is the big eye guy ready to play yet...

Donovan McDonalds

Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Friday, September 14, 2007

The new season of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia started last night on the FX Network. The first episode had a very special guest star. It was Donovan McNabb! He came to give a pep talk to a bunch of regular guys who were at an open tryout for the Eagles (just like in the New Kid's On The Block movie)

"Hey guys. I'm Donovan McNabb. I play Quarterback for the Eagles. You can too if you start every day with a hardy breakfast from McDonalds...Real champs eat at McDonalds...I'm lovin It! (where's my check?) "
The guest was not really Donovan McNabb, it was Elvin from the Cosby Show pretending poorly to be him. It was quite funny because he looked & sounded nothing like McNabb. (which was the point)

This Monday night, the Eagles would be better off with Elvin at the QB position. The Redskins are going to absolutely destroy the Eagles. My favorite quote from the show last night was "They should let girls try out for the Philadelphia Eagles". At least this way, they would have a chance to maybe gain a yard.

Sorry Philly Fans, It won't be Sunny In Philadelphia on Monday night...
