John Wall Hanging Out With Nick Young & JaVale McGee This Weekend
Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Thursday, July 31, 2014

John, Nick, and JaVale. Together Again! What could go wrong?
So a while ago, JaVale McGee (who I used to play call of Duty with) started drinking a gallon jug of water each day to stay hydrated and healthy. He kept saying he was living the "Jug Life" and people kept sending him pictures of themselves with gallon jugs of water under the hashtag #juglife. And now, jug life is a softball game, and John Wall is playing...Lets get back to Jug Life...

Goodbye Rashard, Hello Ernie
Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Wednesday, June 20, 2012

Well, Ernie Grunfeld had a heck of a run as an awful GM. But I don't know what hit him in the head towards the end of the season that has caused him to start making decent basketball moves. (Notice I said "decent" and not "tough" or "good") It was announced that the Wizards traded Rashard Lewis to the Hornets for Emeka Okafor & Trevor Ariza.
Now don't get me wrong, this isn't the greatest move in the history of sports. But it does get a guy who is WAY past his prime in Rashard Lewis out of town. And most importantly, it sets up the move to amnesty Andray Blatche (Don't f**k around Ted) and get him far away from DC. Win-Win! Oh I guess they got some players too.
All that for a guy I wanted the team to just amnesty or cut outright! I honestly have no idea who in their right mind would want Rashard Lewis.
Ernie started the housework by clearing out Nick Young & JaVale McGee towards the end of last season. He even got a decent piece in Nene in the deal. Although if he got a bag of peanuts for those 2 guys I'd still love the trade. (But only if they were Planters sillies) Rashard was next, and all that remains is 7 Day Dray...
So today you can call me Art Vandalay. I am going to quit the importing and focus on the exporting. Tommorow I'll get the line right and talk about Okafor & Ariza.

Wizards Playing Better After Trade Despite Lack Of Wins
Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Sunday, March 25, 2012

In the final game of the Nick Young/JaVale McGee era, the Washington Wizards lost to the Dallas Mavericks by a score of 107-98. It was the teams third loss in a row and in the days following we learned that the Wizards were getting rid of Nick Young and JaVale McGee.
With Young & McGee on the roster this season for 41 games the Wizards only won 9 games which is a 22% winning percentage. In the six games without them, the Wizards won 2, a 33% win percentage. While the winning hasn't skyrocketed, the "almost" winning has.
Since the trade, the Wizards have led 5 out of 6 games at the half. Aside from the Hawks game where the team gave up in the 4th quarter, the Wizards have had a chance to win every single game. Especially the last two which were lost after huge leads. Still the Wiz missed 2 game-tying attempts at the buzzer.
If John Wall could step up as a leader, if Jordan Crawford could pass the ball in the closing minutes, and if the Wizards could improve their confidence, they could end up closing games out in the second half.
So while Nick Young may have his 4th head coach of the season, and while JaVale McGee is tipping in game winners in Denver, the Washington Wizards are doing just fine without them.

Nene Is Here, Doesn't Really Matter
Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Monday, March 19, 2012

Maybyner Rodney Hilário aka Nene and his one ball, will be playing with the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night in New Jersey. I've been ignoring Nene for the last few days because quite frankly I cared more about the players who left than the players that arrived.
It is hard to believe that this is Nene's 10th season in the league after being drafted 7th overall in the 2002 NBA Draft. Remember Jan Vesely was picked 6th this year. Wow look at all the top 10 draft picks we have!
Nene has been averaging around 14 points, 7 boards, and 1 block per game at this point in his career which is quite pedestrian. The thinking with Nene is he will bring some non-knuckleheadedness to this struggling basketball team.
Kevin Seraphin has been playing quite well since McGee has left and Nene is going to take away some of the youngster's playing time. I wouldn't be surprised if the upper management opted to give Seraphin some key minutes over Nene however.
Another likely outcome is that Nene gets hurt again (Josh Howard style) after infusing some energy and excitement into the team. He has only played in every game for 1 out of 10 seasons.
Again the key to this story is that JaVale McGee is gone...

Are The Nuggets Lob City II With JaVale, Ty Lawson Thinks So
Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Sunday, March 18, 2012

The trade is official and JaVale McGee is now a Denver Nugget, and will probably play on Monday night against the Mavs, a game that will be on TNT.
The Denver Post is already pumping up the new Ty Lawson-JaVale McGee combo suggesting names like the Mile Fly. I find the following quote to be funny:
The Denver Post is already pumping up the new Ty Lawson-JaVale McGee combo suggesting names like the Mile Fly. I find the following quote to be funny:
"We're going to have a new Lob City here," said Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson, who has Kenneth Faried and newcomer JaVale McGee to oop the alleys."JaVale will be joining first round draft pick Kenneth Faried who is was obviously drafted in the correct position sixteen slots after Janet Vesely. Faried has been playing some hardcore basketball as of late and McGee could bring the Nuggets some more defensive intensity and energy.
George Karl is the perfect coach for JaVale because his facial expressions are going to be hilarious. See the first of them tomorrow night at 10:30pm on TNT.
"It's a winning team, so I can show I can win and that I'm not a loser just because I was on a losing team," McGee said."
Let's see it. Did you know that JaVale's agent is BJ Armstrong...interesting

And Stay Out! JaVale McGee & Nick Young Traded
Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Thursday, March 15, 2012

Some amazing news comes a few minutes following the NBA trade deadline. According to some sources, JaVale McGee is headed to the Nuggets, Nick Young is headed to the Clippers, and the Wizards are getting...IT DOESN'T MATTER what they're getting.
But really, they are getting Nene?
While Andray Blatche was not traded due to "total lack of interest", the fact that these two bums are leaving DC is music to my ears. It was really fun hearing Tony Kornheiser make fun of Young/McGee on PTI every day, and watching those YouTube clips of McGee made me smile, but for the good of the team, they have gotten rid of these cancers.
Oh, The Wizards got a player too. NeNe. A guy who is injured often and probably won't be a part of the Wizards championship roster in 2015. However hopefully he brings some energy and excitement for the rest of this season.

Dirked In Dallas
Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Wednesday, March 14, 2012

The Wizards lost to the Mavericks but who really cares. The following happened. The best play of the night happened in the final minute. Somebody threw a very easy alleyoop to JaVale McGee who ... just watch
Yea! SportsBog got some official video not shot on a grainy digital camera video mode from 2002.
Game Notes:
Dallas' veterans were just too good for the Wizards, much like the Spurs the other night. The team is playing harder and playing better basketball, but it is nothing compared to playoff teams like the Spurs and Mavs.
Towards the end of the 4th quarter the Wizards derailed. Andray Blatche fired up a foot on the line 2 pointer. Booker fired up a long jumper. Nick Young took terrible corner fadeaways, and Marge Bouvier scored on John Wall at will.
John Wall always tries to dunk and one of these days he is going to get hit in the legs and break his neck. He is out of control on his dunk attempts.
At one point Nick Young dunked on somebody, and it was quite awesome, and afterwards he flashes some bizarre hand signals and then takes another second to grab his jersey while the Mavs push the ball up the floor.
Big fatty Andray Blatche consistently turns the ball over or gets blocked and it leads to 2-3 points down the other end for a 4-5 point swing in a matter of seconds.

This Is A Joke Right?
Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Monday, January 9, 2012

I mean he can't really be serious right...
Is this an NBA mandated thing to get everyone to the voting site? Doubtful. Looks like he just thinks he should be going to the All-Star game.
I mean why not, his team has won 0 games and he averaged a whopping 12 points per game! But Shaq and Barkley keep talking about him so he must be an all star right! His numbers are slightly better than Brendan Haywood's numbers were, and Haywood was the 4th best player on a 5-8 seed team.
The front office can't be encouraging this right...
Four players made the ballot. Was the person fired? Andray Blatche? Nick Young? Why not throw Jordan Crawford on there too! I know I'm writing in Rashard Lewis.
And yes JaVale & the web site, thank you for reminding me to go vote for the all star game. I won't be selecting a single Wizards player, and especially not you. I will be not voting for you guys in all 16 languages on all the platforms the NBA has set up.

More JaVale McGee From TNT
Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Thursday, December 29, 2011

Another day at Inside the NBA, more JaVale McGee & Wizards soundbytes. Shaq has the Wizards on his mind! He was even at the game in Atlanta (which is why he is bringing it up)
Shaq: "He reminds me of Nick Young a little bit, he can score when he wants to score, when he wants to score that basketball nobody's gonna stop him" -- talking about Delonte West
Kenny: "You love the Wizard's man"
Shaq: "JaVale McGee! I saw you last night baby! You're an all-star. JaVale McGee baby, I seen em"
Ernie: "That was a long night for the Wizards"
Chuck: "I'm a big JaVale McGee fan"
That was all during the pregame or halftime. Then all the way at the end of the program at 1:30am. They talked about JaVale McGee again, who is now apparently a running joke on the show...
Shaq: "But I still like my boy JaVale McGee" -- after talking about Andrew Bynum coming back
Kenny: "Oh my God JaVale McGee...I'm gonna get him in here" -- as he shakes his head in disbelief
Ernie: "What the heck is gonna happen if we actually have JaVale McGee playing on a night when we're on the air?"

JaVale McGee On TNT
Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Wednesday, December 28, 2011

JaVale McGee was the topic of discussion on the NBA on TNT on Tuesday night. Both Shaq & Charles Barkley expressed how much they love JaVale McGee and how much potential he has. I don't think either guy has watched an entire Wizards game ever and are basing this on highlights but...here are the quotes transcribed as best as I could.
Shaq: "One of my favorite big men...I like JaVale McGee...I love JaVale McGee"
Chuck: "I wish he would call/spend some time with a big guy cuz I thought he would be better by now. He's been one of the most talented big guys in the league for the last 2-3 years but his offensive game...like right now if he dunks it that's it...but I would love to see him develop his game because I think he's got a chance to be a terrific player in the league."
Shaq: "He's sort of like an undeveloped Deandre Jordan. They don't really have post game but you know, on the break, you know, offensive rebound, throw him a lob he can go up and catch it."
Chuck: "Yeah but you know what you can't win like that. To be a great player they got to be able to give you the ball in the box, jump hooks, up & unders & things like that"
Then Chuck went on a rant about Kevin McHale & Hakeem and someone suggested since the game is in Atlanta they should go to the Wiz game...
"There ain't no way in Hell I'm going to watch that game" --Chuck on the Hawks/Wiz matchup tomorrow night

JaVale McGee's Stupid Staredown Hits PTI
Written By Chris C-Ford ---- Thursday, December 22, 2011

On Tuesday night in Philadelphia, JaVale McGee threw down a meaningless preseason dunk over rookie Nikola Vucevic. It wasn't the greatest posterization as McGee is 100 feet tall and can basically dunk without jumping, but it was a nice dunk. After hitting the dunk, McGee stared down Vucevic for a good 5 seconds. I immediately WTF'd, wondering why anyone with no track record of being good would do such a thing. (A few minutes later McGee didn't cover Vucevic and he hit a buzzer beater wide open 3 pointer, which makes the stare down even more infuriating)
I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one who thought this was insane. In the "What's The Word" segment, the PTI guys were given the following.
It was ____________ that JaVale McGee added a staredown to his dunk.
Tony: GARBAGE
Kornheiser went on to say he watched the game live (to which Wilbon asked him if he had a remote control in his house).
"JaVale McGee, who has accomplished nothing in his career whatsoever, stares down this guy who is basically at the end of the 76ers roster, and you say to yourself 'Come On, Don't do that, don't do it' "
Wilbon: CLUELESS
Mike talked about how the Wiz lost to the Sixers by 40 the previous game, and how the Wizards are terrible. He did mention McGee's talent, but Wilbon is an NBA guy.
"The Wizards only lead the league in one thing Tony, Clueless Knuckleheads"
This was the greatest segment in PTI history. I never agreed more with both Wilbon & Kornheiser. It was like they read my mind...Tell McGee to start staring people down when he plays in ONE playoff game.
